Eric Unseen aim to prove they have been ‘Brought Up The Right Way’ with new album

E banner

LP to be released on the same day as lead single, ‘That Ain’t Love’ – October 1st

A South Wales based boy band with a taste for energetically infectious melodies, Eric Unseen are a three piece with a growing reputation in the UK indie scene.

Having supported and gigged with a host of high profile names including Bastille, We are Scientists, The Alarm, The Stiff Little Fingers, Cast, Ocean Colour Scene, Skindred, Paramore, Goldie Lookin Chain, The Subways, and The Automatic, the band are now ramping up for further exposure with new album ‘Brought Up the Right Way’.

With a sound that comes across like a contemporary version of The Smiths with an indie twist, Eric Unseen are unlike any other band on the circuit at the moment, and aim to drive their point home with this album’s lead single – ‘That Ain’t Love’

The band are no strangers to the stage and have really turned heads with the quality of their live shows. In addition to the impressive list of gigs above, they also reached the final of national competition ‘Live and Unsigned’, fighting through 10,000 acts to play in the showcase event at London’s O2 arena in front of 3 thousand people.

Their success though has not gone to their heads, and they happily joke about the gig they played the next day – a small pub with seven people in it who were there to watch the football.

Fans include producers Greg Haver (The Manic Street Preachers, Cataonia, Super Furry Animals), Richard Jackson (Duffy, The Automatic) and Slade front man Noddy Holder, all impressed by Eric Unseen’s versatile and consistently high quality songwriting.

And it all comes from an outlook of simplicity and the feel of a band simply having fun, with lyrics inspired by a relatable life in ‘The Valleys’ of Wales painting a very different picture from the trashy MTV attempt at reality television.

The album and single will be available from October 1st and is being funded by new crowd funding site Free The Music Book:

“Good luck with trying to get these melodies outta your head..”

Lydia Kakabadse provides an ethereal listening experience with her album “The Phantom Listeners”

British born composer Lydia Kakabadse, grew up in a quiet market town in Cheshire, and has been composing music since the young age of thirteen. Working as a solicitor in previous years, Lydia has a talent for writing both chamber and choral music and her works include songs, string quartets, musical dramas, a cantata, song cycles for unaccompanied male vocal choir and a concert Requiem Mass. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences such as Middle Eastern Music, mythology, nineteenth century poets, Latin Literature and talent for dancing, Lydia has concocted a potent five-piece album which is both majestic and chimerical. When listening, one can hear the distinct allusion to Middle Eastern music, which is brilliantly interwoven within the classical themes.

Lydia manages to incorporate aspects of her fascinating family history within her music.   Due to her multi-national background (Greek/Austrian mother and Russian/Georgian father) Lydia was brought up within the Greek and Russian Orthodox faith, from where she drew inspiration in such works as her string quartet Cantus Planus, song cycle Cantica Sacra and also a choral piece that is still being worked on. Lydia’s heritage on her father’s side is extremely fascinating, as her paternal grandfather was deputy prime minister of Georgia from 1921 – 1933 and shortly afterwards publicly denounced Stalin.

One of the truly elegant singles from the album Russian Tableaux is a captivating, bitter-sweet tribute to the landscape, history and culture of Russia. For a taste of this beautiful album you can listen to Russian Tableaux available here:

Lydia’s album – “The Phantom Listeners, Arabian Rhapsody Suite, The Mermaid” – which was released in 2011, gravitates towards an ethereal experience for the listener, providing stimuli for subliminal visuals. The Latin text within The Phantom Listeners and the (English) text in The Mermaid were both written by Lydia, the first inspired by Walter de la Mare’s poem “The Listeners” and the latter by Greek mythology.  The second  track on the album – “Arabian Rhapsody Suite” was partly written whilst Lydia was undergoing breast cancer treatment in 2008, and an article was published shortly afterwards in the Eastern Daily Press depicting how much  her composing helped her through the treatment. The third track – “The Song of the Shirt”, Lydia wrote when she was just fifteen!

Lydia has received praise for her work from a huge variety of listeners:

Her music is so instantly appealing” – Music Web  International

“Well written, melodic and effective – characteristics of all of Kakabadse’s music” – Music web International

Arabian Rhapsody Suite – “its rhythms and phrasing evoked the exotic sounds of Marrakesh” (Eastern Daily Press)

Whilst mastering counterpoint perfectly, she makes wonderful use of her material by means of a high quality structure giving a sense of the new and vibrant and captivating the listener,” (Tamvakos – Jazz & Tzaz)

Listing Diana Moran amongst many others as fans of her music, Lydia can also add many prestigious venues that have played host to live performances of her music, such as Ely Cathedral, St. John’s Smith Square London, Grosvenor House London, Norwich Cathedral – “Composer is present to hear her work played to perfection” (EDP) – and the Chapel of Gonville & Caius College Cambridge, where her choral work Cantica Sacra was premiered in Feb 2014 by the Choir of Gonville & Caius College.

Hercules Morse takes you to the ‘Edge of Life’ with new release

Front Cover - Edge of Life EP by Hercules Morse

New music from South Coast rockers released October 27th

A Southampton based rock group with such an impressive live show that Turbowolf said they “wished they sounded like” them, Hercules Morse are a four piece hard rock band with a sound that moves between heavy and stoner rock.

Their new release, ‘Edge of Life’, is unleashed next month and continues their penchant for creating hard edged rock tunes that still carry a melodic, infectious punch.

Listen to ‘How Do You Love Me’ taken from the EP here:

Recorded and mixed by Neil Kennedy (Burn The Fleet, Landscapes, Press to Meco, Don Broco) of Ranch Production house, and mastered by Alan Douches (Brand New, Bowling for Soup, Cannibal Corpse, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Sepultura), this is fresh new rock music which deserves to be found by hardcore rock fans specifically and music fans in general.

Their upcoming video also hints at their inherent sense of humour when it comes to the music, taking a tongue in cheek look at 90s nostalgia –featuring none other than former Fun House presenter Pat Sharp – so keep your eyes peeled for that on October 31th (shortly after ‘Edge of Life’ is out).

The new music represents the start of a new chapter for a band that, in a previous five-piece set-up, received plaudits from Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, as well as national press coverage from the likes of Kerrang Radio, NME, Scuzz TV and BBC 6 Music. This new release deserves to build on that success.

‘Edge of Life’ is released on October 27th.

New urban pop artist Halo releases ‘Highlights’ EP

cover 2

Four song collection out now following Sept 15th release date

Nigerian born, London based Halo is a rapper with a confident urban pop sound. His brand new four song EP, ‘Highlights’, was released on September 15th.

The EP, full of upbeat melodies and soulful vocals, as well as some top class production, had one aim when Halo was writing it – enjoying all the many positives in life in a world which can be focussed on the negative. As Halo puts it himself:

‘Everyday is somebody’s birthday so there’s always a reason to turn the music up’.

However, in spite of the positive aims, this isn’t a sugary take on the urban genre, and Halo’s sound has a solid, grounded feel to it. For a taste of what he’s about check out ‘Think About Me’ taken from the EP here:

Halo is also not new to the music business. His career until now has already seen him working on previous projects supporting the likes of Ludacris and receiving support from across the board, including from poles apart tastemakers Tim Westwood and Tom Robinson. He also featured on an unreleased Leona Lewis track, which goes to show he isn’t starting from scratch in a music industry which is often difficult to break.

But with this new EP, Halo is taking that reputation in the industry, and looking to build on it. Keep your eyes peeled for a new video on the way too, with a new clip in development for EP opening track ‘Think About Me’.

‘Highlights’ EP tracklisting:

  1. Think About Me
  2. Thats What I’m About
  3. Straight From the Bottle
  4. You Know the Rest

The ‘Highlights’ EP is available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play, Amazon, Beats Music, Rdio, Deezer, Shazam! and Bandcamp.

Estrella announce release of their new single “Here I Am”

00 - Estrella - Promo - Hi Res

Scottish rock four-piece Estrella reveal the first single to be released from their second album. The much anticipated track, aptly named, “Here I Am’’ is set for release 24th November.

The inspiration for the track was drawn from the guys becoming fed up of being told they need to ‘get real jobs’, so in true musician style, they reacted by writing a killer song. Proud of what they do and echoing their own journey, the words ratify the need to follow your own fate.

The track rings true to Estrella’s energetic rock sound and the production is absolutely seamless. The thoughtful lyrics, teamed with powerful guitar riffs is the stuff rock hits are made of.

Some very talented veterans of the rock world have lent their hands to the making of Estrella’s new album and the album has a provenance most rock bands would envy.

“Here I am’’ was recorded at the infamous Rockfield Studios, Wales. The very studios in which Queen recorded hit, “Bohemian Rhapsody”.  John T Sinclair, who has worked with rock heavyweights ‘Uriah Heep’, ‘The Cult’ and ‘Ozzy Osbourne band’, co-wrote and co-produced “Here I am”.  Production on the second album was overseen by Nick Brine, who has worked with and contributed to the global success of legends, The Darkness, Bruce Springsteen and Oasis.

With this hearty mix of rocking talent coming together on one project, the new album is undeniably bound for greatness. You can hear their new single ‘Here I Am’ on the link below:

Estrella have been moving from strength to strength over summer and have made appearances at a wealth of rock festivals.  Dave Ritchie from Wildfire Festival (previously Les-Fest) described Estrella as,

The most exciting and entertaining, live rock band in the country, Estrella give 100% every time, simply unmissable!”.

Hard Rock Hell Festival  said, These boys know how to rock!”.

With fans of the band including Classic Rock Magazine and XFM presenters Tom Russell and noted music tastemaker Jim Gellatly, as well as setting off on a European Tour in November with Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses ex-guitarist) you will be hearing plenty more of Estrella in the coming months

Singer-songwriter River Child set to ‘Start Over Again’ with debut EP

Ex-busker takes to the studio and creates a gem – released 3rd November

Based in North London, River Child is a solo singer-songwriter who specialises in classy, soulful indie/folk. With an off kilter, rare and distinctive voice, he is an ex-busker who has swapped the streets for the studio after getting some incredible feedback for his live performances.

For a taste of what River Child is all about, here is the title track from the EP, a treat of jangling guitars and that affecting vocal.

Relatively new to the London scene having started out just under a year ago, River Child is already assured in his sound. By turns haunting and melodic, it’s music that finds its way under your skin and stays there.

Helped by producer Ian Wallman, this EP is certainly something for fans of independently minded music to savour. When it comes to River Child, there are no angles or spun news stories – simply good quality music.

Cody Pennington dares you ‘To Be Me’ with new EP

Stylish five song acoustic collection out now having been released August 16th

A singer-songwriter who was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but now residing in Suffolk, Cody Pennington is an acoustic guitar based musician with a taste for a classy turn of lyrical phrase and some effective instrumental melodies.

Nominated at the NMG awards for ‘Best Male Solo Artist 2014’ this year, he’s clearly an artist on the rise, a journey that will no doubt be aided by the release of his new, stylish five song EP.

With an extremely personal song writing style and autobiographical lyrics that speak of love and loss alongside a range of upbeat and pared back tempos, his is a range that fits perfectly in a market which is currently on the hunt for a new male voice. And what a voice it is – clear, almost rasping, and very distinct – you can hear it married to some lovely fingerpicking in the title track of the new EP:

It’s a vocal that has placed him on the radar of some top-level music industry people; connections which saw him play in support of the international American Idol tour when they visited Turkey (another country the travelling troubadour has resided in). To play amongst such well-regarded vocal company without sounding out of place stands the songwriter in good stead, and Pennington is hoping that’s the first of many shows on that scale.

Not bad for a vocalist who only started singing by accidentally signing up for a choir in school.

An artist laid bare by his sparse arrangements and personal writing style, perhaps Cody sums it up best himself:

“This is me. This is who I am. Judge the hell out of me.”

Aussie Psychedelia as Transference release ‘Lady Isis’ single

Taken from the album ‘The Navigators’, the single ‘Lady Isis’  will be available from Sept 29th but can be pre-ordered on iTunes

A psychedelic Melbourne based core of musicians who invite vocalists from all over the world to join their musical extravaganza, the aim of the rotating cast is to ensure they keep things fresh & vibrant, the uniqueness of Transference is an all encompassing musical fusion of Pink Floyd meets Tangerine Dream approach to the songwriting and production style which delivers the pomp & ceremony of a Rick Wakeman theatrical spectacular, no two performances are the same so the level of unpredictability of the players and their collective presentation of the music is always a welcome surprise, imagine a musical satsang that will leave you uplifted, energised & empowered. This is what you will get & more. A bold claim perhaps, but one which Transference proudly makes.

Their sound is an ensnaring blend of rhythms and melodies with lyrics inspired by the band’s take on integrating us with our mythical roots, a magical sense of awe & wonder traversing forgotten lands and ancient mythology. This is typified in the lyrics of the the new single ‘Lady Isis’

Listen to ‘Lady Isis’ here:

Taken from their album “The Navigators” & released in association with Ikonic Artists, their music is hypnotic & engaging. This truly international project, captured by New York

producer Ryan Kelly & mastered by the legendary Pete Maher (U2, Jack White, The Killers, Rolling Stones) in London. With fellow musicians Tangerine Dream & Mike Oldfield among their fans, which should give you an idea of the kind of quality they bring to the table. This is not pop music in any sense, but an ongoing creative output that flows into their electrifying live performances, the band draw inspiration from the audience on stage to create a truly personal experience.

Shannon K to release anti-drugs anthem ‘Just Say No…!’

Single featuring Kumar Sanu and rapper Cyba, is out 8th September

With a thought provoking set of lyrics written by her nine year old sister Annabel, the new single from Shannon K was inspired by lessons the siblings were taught in school in relation to drugs. Having been made aware of the dangers of drugs in school, the pair decided to compose a song together – written by Annabel, performed by Shannon – which would raise further awareness of the issue.

The result is brand new pop single ‘Just Say No….!’, which you can hear here:

Produced by David Tyrrell and mastered by Award winning engineer Tim Hamill at a studio in Wales, the song is an upbeat, infectious tune designed to carry the positive message of staying away from drugs.

It comes as little surprise that the two young girls carry such musical talent – their father is legendary Bollywood vocalist Kumar Sanu, who makes a guest appearance on the single himself.

A glittering career as a vocalist in Bollywood has seen him win a total of 69 awards including 64 in his native India (from Filmfare, Zee Cine, Kishore Kumarand more) plus 5 internationally (from Sunrise Radio-London, West Indian Academy, Grammy-West Indies, Bollywood Music-U.S.A. and Radio Lotus-South Africa).

However, with two talented up and coming daughters who share his passion for music, perhaps in time even his own sizeable list of achievements will be eclipsed.

Dmitry Nechaev single ‘Memory (Unstaged)’ set for release Oct 29th

Flamboyant songwriter, Dmitry Nechaev is not the kind of artist who comes along every day. Born in Russia, his vocal is reminiscent of Savage Garden’s Darren Hayes, only with a deeper soul to the sound.

His latest single, due on October 29th, gives you a glimpse of what’s to come:

Watch him performing previous single ‘Anonymous’ here:

The single, recorded ‘as live’, is part of a larger collaborative project, stringing together a host of ‘Unstaged’ music videos to create a tightly woven plot. It’s an unusual way to release a single, but Dmitry has never done things the ordinary way.

Having toured the world while working as a model, his journey into the music industry started proper in 2008 when he won ‘Best Vocalist of the Year’ in a contest held between the leading music colleges and institutes of Moscow followed by debut album Ignis Fatuus release. For a time, he continued to work as a model, but has recently decided to make the transition to full time musician and songwriter.

Talented and creative in many fields – art, philosophy, music, writing, dance – Dmitry is an artist who will continue to work towards a career he believes to be his destiny. He is also a huge supporter of using his gifts to help others – several years ago taking part in a Moscow charity concert aimed at raising money to buy surgical equipment for Morozovsky Children’s Hospital. Being part of an event like that let him know he was on the right path, and he has not looked back since.
