With a beautiful and catchy song portrayal of what life is like growing up and pursuing one’s dreams, Canadian singer-songwriter Aka V is embarking upon a bright future as a musician.

With a songwriting style that reminds of brilliant female artists such as Sheryl Crow or Shania Twain and a vocal interpretation which hints on Gwen Stefani, Aka V has all the right ingredients for a promising start in the industry.

Her single ‘Always Go Home’ is an autobiographical account of a young woman leaving her home and aiming for the big city to realise her ambitions of becoming a musician.

With Past Chart Success On Amazone – Ronoc Is Re Releasing His single ‘Battling On’

As a one man band, Ronoc is used to writing and producing his own material. He has perfected his techniques after studying a music degree in London at The Institute Of Contemporary Performance. In order to portray is abilities to perform without the help of other musicians he has come up with a 21st century solution of playing live gigs with a band consisting solely of himself.

“When it came to releasing this single, with the message behind the song being so powerful, it was a natural decision to donate all revenue from downloads and streaming to three local charities that I support. The meaning relates very well with each of these charities and all people involved”

Ronoc has started his solo career two years ago after having previously played with the indie band The Vacations who had been featured on MTV and played the main stage at Strawberry Fields Festival in Leicester in 2013.

Currently, the artist is charity busking in Leicester as a lead up to an event he is organising at a local church in Loughborough on 27th February this year. This event will once again raise money for the charities he supported during the first release of ‘Battling On’.

The re-release of ‘Battling On’ is set for 11th March 2016.

Rachel Myall – Upcoming Singer-Songwriter

Lyrically, Rachel Myall impresses with emotional storytelling à la Dolly Parton and the melancholic romanticism of songwriters like Tim Buckley, while her sublime vocal maturity reminds of singers such as Laura Marling. Her new single ‘Two Sides of Me’ is an emotional portrayal of the inner struggles and strains that relationships can cause. Taken from the upcoming EP ‘Science’, Rachel’s vocal perfection and lyrical sharpness form a beautiful sonic experience that the singer herself likes to describe as melancholic folk blues.

The Single ‘Two Sides of Me’ is out on 26th February and the EP ‘Science’ is out on 18th March 2016.

Other tracks on ‘Science’ touch upon topics including the explosive chemistry of a short lived romance, poetry by John Keats and about fighting for your dreams. One song was particularly inspired by her travels to South America, taking on influences of Salsa and Bachata. While mainly rooted in folk and blues, Rachel’s sound is taking on a broad range of musical elements, which is particularly underlined by the use of strings, piano, percussion and the occasional trumpet on the EP.

As both a professional songwriter and someone who works in the communications industry, Rachel is very aware of the challenges that self-promoting one’s music comprise. Like so many 21st century artists on the rise she understands that being a musician nowadays automatically means being a manager, a promoter and a publicist at the same time.

Her new EP is a collection of songs written by Rachel in her single twenties in London and forms a very intimate account of a young songstress who puts the experience of growing up in the 21st century into a musical narrative that feeds from a long chain of musical heritage.

We Disappear was produced by Chris Walla (formerly of Death Cab For Cutie) and recorded in Portland at Kung Fu Bakery (The Shins, Tegan and Sara) and in Seattle, WA at The Hall of Justice (Nirvana, Mudhoney). The album is dark and deeply personal, examining technology, love, and death throughout: how separation in humanity can come through any of these avenues; how people try to outrun the demise of lives and relationships; how technology can isolate us and impact our relationships even as we completely – and willingly – assimilate ourselves into it; and how we’ve begun to forego privacy for a feeling of immortality in order to not be ignored or forgotten.

Harris’s heartfelt lyrics – which draw heavily from his own recent experiences in contrast to his earlier, mostly fictitious tales – are both complimented and contrasted by the music. We Disappear is a walk through modern life and love, and despite its dark themes, The Thermals here deliver one of their most spirited, anthemic, and rousing releases to date.

We Disappear track listing:

  1. Into The Code

Iestyn’s 10 Year Anniversary as a Professional opera singer hits out with superb release

2016 is marking Iestyn’s 10 year anniversary as a professional opera singer which has led him to start recording some of the songs that were part of his journey throughout the last decade.

Having had extensive experience on the world’s opera stages, one of his latest successes was his role as Peter Pan in the eponymous opera at the Royal Opera House in London last year. His extraordinary interpretation earned many praises in the media such as The Birmingham Post writing:”A new counter-tenor role on this scale is something rather special; Morris was both physically and vocally agile, with a charisma that, at crucial moments, held the whole theatre rapt.”

The Single “By a Fountainside” is out on 1st April 2016

The EP “Iestyn Morris” is out on 15th April 2016

‘Travelling Man’ – A Beautiful Collection Of Solo Songs!

Former Foxes frontman Nigel Thomas is set to release a beautiful collection of solo songs with his forthcoming album ‘Travelling Man’.

‘Travelling Man’ has been recorded at London’s Tilehouse Studios with help from Mike Oldfield’s son Luke. The album was mastered by John Davis at Metropolis Studios just after he’d been working on the latest Blur album and remastered Led Zeppelin.  Apart from taking inspiration from musical heroes such as The Kinks or Elliott Smith the album was also massively influenced by the literary work from Bukowski to Borroughs and Palahniuk.

The next single release from the album, ‘Ghost Hunter’, sets the perfect mood for the entire record, underlined by its almost mystical qualities and alluring melodies.

When it comes to song writing, Thomas has never been short of ingenuity. Another track on the album, “Que Sera”, is a magnificent track that combines simplicity with a melodic lightness and melancholia, reminding of pop mastery as we know it from the likes of Elton John or Paul McCartney.
