Acclaimed contemporary jazz act, Mercury, gear up for the release of their new album Sea Speak along with an exciting tour across the North of England.

Formed out of a bunch of music students from RNCN, Mercury performed their first gig at the Manchester Jazz Festival back in 2012. Here they were discovered by a group of organisers at the legendary Kings Place in London, who were so impressed by the group’s sound that they invited them to play at King’s Place itself, propelling the band into a new level of recognition.

Mercury has since gone on to be nominated for awards such as the Whittingham Jazz Award in 2013, their lead member Tom Thorp making it to the grand finals of the Taichung International Sax Competition. Developing their sound to incorporate elements of electronica, psychadelia, classical and indie, they have been slowly reshaping jazz for a 21st Century audience, and now have a brand new album in the pipeline titled Sea Speak.

Nasa Woods releases the steamy video for ‘Alitheia’

img_76954444444444Alitheia meaning:

Alitheia, means truth in greek.

Nasa explains: We always tend to speak the truth when we’re intoxicated so the song represents a moment of struggle between holding back and being honest with someone you love.

Check out the video:

The track came out of a car ride with producer TruOmega and it was then brought to life by Nasa.

He overcame dark times to reach where he is now, rising West-London-based singer Nasa Woods comes through with ‘Alitheia’, sporting an experimental urban sound that competes with the likes of Zayn Malik, Usher and Justin Timberlake.

Talking about the single ‘Hurt’, Jazz Mino says “Hurt is by far the most honest and difficult song that I’ve ever written, and the closest to my heart. Many see me as a happy and positive artist, so initially I was hesitant about releasing my true feelings; but everybody goes through extremely difficult times and to cut out such a devastating time of my life, and pretend that losing somebody so close to me has had no effect; would be a false and dishonest reflection on my life”.

She has supported Lianne La Havas, The Noissettes, Stornoway (How The Light Gets In festival), Professor Green (Kiss FM Music Cube) and Lucy Rose (BUPA Westminster Mile, Innocent Unplugged). She has also performed at Innocent Unplugged Festival, BUPA Feel Great Britain Festival, BBC Bristol live session, Beefeater Gin Sponsored Bulgaria tour, Ronnie Scotts Jazz Bar (Upstairs),

She has also been featured on Record Of The Day (Superwoman single), Breeze FM record of the week and Ticketmaster Rising Star!

“Hurt” will be available from September 23rd

Sneaky Nixons Release Fiery Riotous New Single ‘Schadenfreude’

Listen to the new single HERE:

The band describes themselves as an angry, semi political, semi religious, part feminist, sloppy activist group who play riots, steam train guitar music. The have declared war on electronic dance music, guns and non believers of their rock-n-roll escapade. Flashy, Blase and with a startling superiority complex the band have no time for humdrum normality, preferring the out of control, dangerous and volatile and fast paced lifestyle of living in a brutal riotous and rock-n-roll fashion.

Similar to the infamous Rolling Stones, Blur, Oasis and Elvis Presley the band arent short of musical influences to be the next huge rock sensation. Having already toured Berlin, Amsterdam, Hamburg and Rotterdam the band are beginning to leave their mark globally.

Though the band use fairly little equipment they use intelligence, control and arrangement to created and incredible live performance. Uniquely using slide guitar, a megaphone, whammy bar and of course lighter fluid to set their guitars on fire!

Sneaky Nixons Release Fiery Riotous New Single ‘Schadenfreude’ – OUT 8th August

The Sneaky Nixons set to release huge rock hit ‘Schadenfreude’ on the 8th of August 2016.

Listen to the new single HERE:

The Liverpool based and appropriately named ‘Sneaky Nixons’ champion a sound that is cheeky, punky and rough around the edges. That being said their production quality is absolutely impeccable.

Bull Funk Zoo Releases Explosive and Unruly Second Album ‘Dangerous Radio’

Following the release of his fiery and ballsy singles ‘Would You’ and ‘Burnin’, Bull Funk Zoo is on a parade and ready to take the rock industry by storm. Raw and uncompromising, ‘Dangerous Radio’ is BFZ’s blindfolded rollercoaster ride of rock, funk, blues, sex and the news, all the while tipping his hat to masters like Jimi Hendrix, Chilli Peppers, Range Against The Machine, Clutch, Frank Zappa and the Sex Pistols.

While previous collaborations featured Eslam Jawad -M.C (former Gorillaz and Wu Tan Clan) and Hamdan Al-Abri,  ‘Dangerous Radio’ sees Assaad Lakkis a.k.a. Bull Funk Zoo performing and producing the whole album himself. Assaad describes ‘Dangerous Radio’ as a big bad bull rocking out, fornicating & wildly stompin’ the blues to rubble. Hendrix havin’ a drink with Tom Waits & RATM decided to tear it up.

Watch The New Promo Here:

Bull Funk Zoo’s debut album was recorded in 2013 and got the highest ratings for an unsigned band’s record by Rolling Stone. In the Middle East, he has made a name for himself, playing in front of up to 30,000 people at concerts, supporting the likes of Sting, Sade, Timbaland and others. Bull Funk Zoo is continuously working on new material, videos and other creative endeavours. He says: “Creativity is my drug of choice, it has got me in a vice.”

Assaad was born in Dubai after his parents had to escape the devastating war in Lebanon in the 70s. As a young boy, music always played a big role at home, which had Assaad growing up to the sounds of James Brown and various Motown artists. When he first saw Kiss performing on TV, the energy of rock’n’roll both intrigued and scared him. Enchanted by the magic of it all, he soon discovered bands like Soundgarden, Megadeth, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Beck, broadening his musical horizons and leading him to constantly crave new experiences.

At the age of 17, he moved to the US for a few years to attend university, and dig further into unknown musical realms. During this time, he also discovered punk rock and jazz, which soon lead him to realise that the mentality of these genres fitted in perfectly with his own worldview.  Both in music and life, Assaad is a free spirit who is willing to cross boundaries in order to expand his mind. He surrounded himself with like-minded people such as the spoken word artist Eric Bailey and Glen Burris, a well-known horn player who played and recorded with Miles Davis on “Man With The Horn”.

“Bull Funk is the ideal description of the music; it’s got attitude, heart, grace, and it’s in-your-face. The Zoo is the Bull Funk collective, hence Bull Funk Zoo.”

Dangerous Radio is out September 12th
